In our learning for reading we learnt lots of information about the famous Selina Tusitala Marsh. Dr Selina Tusitala Marsh is an Auckland- based Pacific poet and scholar of samoan, Tuvaluan, English, Scottish and French. Her first collection of poems was Fast talking PI which stand's for Pacific Island. Jessie Mackay best first book award for Poetry. Selina talked about PI and what she loves doing there for example I love the lord PI which is actually talking about herself and what she did in the Pacific Island. She started off like she did hip hop song. In our class we got inspired of how she fast talk about PI people.
Our next activity was to create a word art about who I am. For example I'm half samoan and tongan and a teacher, it express what you are. My word art starts with my name and what i love doing in sports or anything else. Did you know that your family tree can't just be two part's it could be more and more generations of your grand grandma or grandpa which lets know that your family tree grows bigger and bigger. According to Selina Tusitala book a afakasi has half blood, mixed with two parts. But even though he's eye is brown and the other one is blue no one is ever just two. An afakasi is a chameleon blending in, coloured be genealogy and its differences. This word art is about myself and what I love doing. Have you ever express yourself by writing it down or telling others?
